The 1.2.4 update is here, and it is now safe to update.

A lot of annoying bugs were fixed and some new features were added including:
    • Chat history, chat editing, chat scrolling, autocomplete for player names, and copy and paste.
    • Wooden planks now are the color of the logs they were taken from.
    • New sandstone blocks
    • Shift+f3 now doesn't have graphs
    • Cats now sit on your keyboard

BT267, you'll have to find a download of the 1.2.3 jar
Or I could upload my backup for you. (should be a mediafire link. If it doesn't work, let me know)
    The file is minecraft.jar
Just put it in your Bin folder. IF you don't know how...google it.

You tried opening the file you downloaded? Herpderp
Don't do that. Just put the file in your Bin folder.
    Also: For anyone wondering:
    Top: Smooth Sandstone. Uses 4xSandstone
Bottom: Heiroglyph Sandstone. Uses 2x Sandstone Slabs

Did you delete minecraft.jar that was already in it?
Or did you tell it to keep both files?

You can also use Spoutcraft if you're not already using it: http://dev.bukkit.org/client-mods/spoutcraft/files/
    (exe version, autoupdater for windows)

Below the Login button there's an Options button
Select 'Manual build selection' and then pick the spout / minecraft version you want to use, or select 'Always use development builds' as the latest spout version is still 1.2.3.
My list is going back to MC 1.0
It will then automatically download the required files.

Spout has many advantages but also some disadvantages. E.g. when a new version of MC is released it takes some time till the client is updated, the recommended build is still one using MC 1.1 so I'm using a development build atm, so there might be some bugs.

But it's an easy way to get back on the server. Spoutcraft is using a different installation folder so it does not touch your existing installation of mc :) (at least on windows) and you can still play the new version of mc in singleplayer, using the normal mc client.

Yeah, server updated a few hours ago. Purely said they might have to switch back to 1.2.3 if needed

Guess I'm one of the unlucky ones that is having the lwjgl .jar issue. Tried downloading and installing the lwjgl 2.8.3 files, but no go. Apparently this has been a wide spread issue (more so with 64bit OS) and will not be resolved until 1.2.5 or later.

Finally got this working. Took uninstalling all Java and re installing Java 64 bit. Now able to use 1.2.4 finally.
